Skills Challenge Certificate Department
The Skills Challenge Certificate (SCC) is a qualification that will develop and assess your skills, attributes and behaviours. It sits along side your other qualifications, and you will see that a number of the skills you develop whilst studying the SCC will be used while you study your other subjects. They are transferable skills that you should develop and use to show that you can adapt to different circumstances and situations, when working individually or in a team. They are skills that you will need when you leave school to use in the work place, or if you go on to study at sixth form and then on to University.
The KS4 National/Foundation Welsh Baccalaureate is awarded when you have passed the SCC and the supporting qualifications shown in the wheel below.

To adapt personal skills and qualities so that set targets are achieved. |
How will the skills be assessed?
These skills will be assessed by completing four seperate components. Three components are based on challenges which you should complete before undertaking the fourth component, which is an Individual Project. The percentage of the qualification for each component is:-
50% - Individual Project
20% - Enterprise & Employability Challenge
15% - Global Citizenship Challenge
15% - Community Challenge
Key Stage 5
The Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (SCC) is to help you devleop more complex skills, attributes and behaviours. It will provide experiences which support your other subjects and which will enable you to be better prepared for your future destination, whether university, further training or employment.
The emphasis in the SCC is on applied learning around the concept of 'plan, do and review'. You will acquire and apply a range of transferable skills in different settings and context which will include planning activities, carrying out activities, reviewing outcomes and your own development.
