BRYNTIRION COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL - COMMUNICATION WITH PARENTS

Thank you for completing the parent survey in the Autumn term and providing feedback to the school. The survey highlighted the communication systems between the school and parents and we would like to clarify the three modes of communication used by the school:

SIMS InTouch

This communication system is the only system that guarantees to send information to at least one parent/carer of every child in the school via email/text message. Information is obtained from the Admission Form completed by parents when their child starts at the school. It is important for parents/carers to inform the school of any changes to their contact information so that this system can be maintained.

This system is used to share/notify parents of:

• School letters and events
• Tracking/Reports
• Attendance letters
• Advising parents/carers to top up Cashless Catering accounts
• Automated notifications for unexplained absences
• Automated notification for emergency closure of the school.

It is important for parents/carers to regularly check their emails for school information and ensure their inbox has enough space to receive ongoing information. It is also advised to regularly check junk/spam mail as devices used may sometimes not recognise the school.

Classcharts For Parents

Parents/carers are invited to join Classcharts when their child starts at the school. It is the parents/carers choice to join this platform, however, it is highly recommended by the school. This is also the school’s preferred system to report daily absence/medical appointments.

This system is used to share/view:

• students’ attendance
• students’ achievements/behaviour
• students’ timetable
• students’ homework
• absence reporting – notify the school of absence/medical appointments
• Announcements - school letters and events
• Dententions (parents can view detentions and will receive an email from Classcharts informing of a detention).

Students have their own platform to access via Classcharts – Classcharts for students – and are issued with their own password when they join the school.

SIMS Parentapp

Parents/carers are invited to join this app when their child starts at the school. It is the parents/carers choice to join this platform, however it is highly recommended by the school. The main purpose of this system is sharing secure data collection e.g. allows parents to update the contact information we hold for them and their child. This may be a change of address, change of email, contact number and also advising the school of a new medical condition that their child may have developed.

• Students’ attendance
• Students’ achievements/behaviour
• Messages – school letters and events
• School Calendar
