SENIOR SKI TRIP TO LAKE PLACID

During February Half Term, 21 pupils travelled to Lake Placid in New York for the senior ski trip to America. Pupils were supervised by Mr Evans, Mr C. Jones and Miss Bailey. Lake Placid held the 1980 Winter Olympic Games so there were many historic features for pupils to visit such as the ski jumping area and museum. The temperature was very cold at times but there was plenty of snow to make great skiing conditions. All pupils made fantastic progress under the close supervision of their ski instructors. A highlight of the trip was the bobsled experience in Lake Placid where pupils reached speeds of 60mph down a track supervised by a driver and brakes person.

After 4 days of skiing pupils visited New York where they had a guided tour of the city seeing some iconic buildings and landmarks. These included the Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock, Times Square, Ground Zero and many more! Trip leader Mr Evans commented that; ‘Pupils’ behaviour was exceptional throughout and it was a pleasure to lead such a fantastic trip!’.
