End of Spring Term

As we approach the end of a very busy Spring Term, I know that pupils and staff are looking forward to their Easter holiday. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment during the course of this term. The last day of term is Friday 31st March and we finish, as usual, at 3.00pm.

The Summer Term begins on Monday 17th April.

We have two further INSET days on Monday 5th June and Monday 24th July. There are also two public holidays in the Summer Term: Monday 1st May (May Day) and Monday 8th May (King’s Coronation)

Parents’ evening for Year 7 is on Thursday 4th May and the parents’ evening for Year 9 is on Thursday 11th May. These events will take place in person at school.

Summer Exams

This is, of course, an important time for all students preparing for examinations. Students in Years 10 to Year 13 are concluding their final preparations for GCSEs, A levels and non-examined qualifications. As always, we appreciate the support of our parents in ensuring that their son/daughter is fully aware of the exam schedule and is undertaking appropriate revision activities at home. They should also ensure they have suitable equipment for each exam. Staff and students have been working conscientiously in school to ensure high levels of success and achievement. We wish all our students every success in their examinations this year.

The GCSE Welsh speaking exams for Year 11 begin on Wednesday 19th April. For all other pupils, the main summer examination series begins on Friday 12th May. Year 11 students are expected to attend timetabled lessons until Friday 26th May, unless they are sitting examinations.

Beauty and the Beast

We are looking forward to welcoming families and friends to our annual school production – ‘Beauty and the Beast’. This will take place in the first week of the Summer Term on Wednesday 19th April, Thursday 20th April and Friday 21st April –  at 7.00. p.m. Tickets for Wednesday and Thursday are still available from school reception - £12 for adults and £7 for children and concessions. Attendance, holiday leave and summer uniform

Excellent attendance is essential if your child is to reach his or her potential in school. We would like to work with you and continue to need your support in ensuring all pupils have excellent attendance – wherever possible.

We understand that parents have requested term time authorisation for holiday leave this year. However, please be aware that holiday leave during term time is not encouraged as absence may affect your child’s educational progress and attainment. For that reason, any requests for absence will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Please contact the school if any such absences are planned.

Pupils will be able to wear the summer uniform (the school’s polo shirt instead of a shirt and tie) next term. For more details on the summer uniform please see the school website, where you will be able to find relevant information within the school prospectus.
