Queen's State Funeral - Monday 19th September - Designated Bank Holiday

Following the very sad news of the death of the Queen, we have taken time to pause and reflect on the Queen’s life, and to consider this moment in history.  

On Friday, during registration, form tutors showed pupils two BBC news clips:  

We also held a minute’s silence at midday on Friday in tribute to the Queen. This coincided with the tolling of the bells at Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral and Windsor Castle. The School marked this moment with a period of reflection in order to pay our respects, and to recognise a remarkable life and an historic reign, and a long life dedicated to extraordinary public duty and service. 

Schools in Wales have been informed that Monday 19th September, the date of Queen’s State Funeral, is now designated as a Bank Holiday.Bryntirion Comprehensive School with therefore be closed to staff and pupils on that day."
